Children’s Hearings Scotland in West Dunbartonshire is looking for a committed volunteer leader to take on the role of Depute Area Convener in the local Area Support Team (AST).
What will you be doing?
You will hold the responsibility for leadership activities within the AST; attending and at
times chairing AST meetings and sub-groups; managing the local complaints process;
coordinating and supporting the quality assurance work of the Panel Practice Advisors;
working with local partner agencies and participating in joint meetings; communicating with
Panel Members; supporting national improvements and changes to the hearing system at a

You’ll be enthusiastic and committed to securing the rights of children and young people
and improving their outcomes and experiences; able to lead and be part of a team; a strong
communicator. You should also be familiar with working with volunteers and be able to
demonstrate a strong commitment to and understanding of the ethos of Children’s Hearings
Full training and support is provided, with the aim to enhance your skills in: leadership, effective communication, and influencing and negotiating – all of which are transferable into the workplace too.
