Smokefree Community Service

West Dunbartonshire Smokefree Community Services provides free and informal support from friendly trained stop smoking advisors with access to free Nicotine Replacement Therapy or Stop Smoking Medication.  Support is also given to people using e-cigarettes to stop smoking. 

There are one-to-one sessions and group sessions running at different times throughout Alexandria, Clydebank and Dumbarton.  We discuss the quitting journey, addiction, withdrawal and coping strategies.  

How to Access the Smokefree Community Service

Anyone can refer themselves by contacting the West Dunbartonshire Smokefree Community Service or Alternatively you can be referred by GP, Practice Nurse or Health Counsellor.

In addition to the Smokefree Community Service all 22 pharmacies within West Dunbartonshire can provide brief support to stop smoking and free Nicotine Replacement Therapy or Stop Smoking Medication. Contact your local pharmacy for more information.

All women booking for antenatal care will be asked about smoking and others smoking around them. This will be followed by a simple carbon monoxide (CO) breath test. The service is tailored to meet the needs of pregnant women and offers help and advice for smokers who wish to stop. The service is free, informal and friendly and includes NRT plus continued support. Tel0141 201 2335.
