Sheltered Housing is specially designed or adapted accommodation to meet the needs of older people.

In West Dunbartonshire sheltered housing, you live in your own house containing a lounge, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.  There is support available 24 hours a day.  This allows you to stay independent in your own home and have the peace of mind knowing that in an emergency trained help is available.

The majority of sheltered housing complexes have been specially adapted to make everyday life easier and safer for older people.  Examples of this are handrails and walk in showers.

For further information view the Housing pages on the WDC website

West Dunbartonshire Council provides housing with Wardens and several provide extra care housing.  A wide range of housing associations provide sheltered and/or extra care housing across the whole area.
